PELA CFDC Board of Directors announces departure of Craig Desjardins as Executive Director

Media Release September 29, 2016, Picton, Ontario- The Board of Directors of the Prince Edward Lennox & Addington Community Futures Development Corporation (PELA CFDC) wishes to announce the departure of Craig Desjardins as Executive Director, effective October 14, 2016.

Chair of the Board of Directors Angela Miller stated “We wish Craig Desjardins great success as he moves forward in his career. Craig is leaving the PELA CFDC organization as a leader in economic development in the province. We are confident his decision to move forward in his career will not only provide him with stimulating challenges, but also with the rewards of success.”

Mr. Desjardins came to PELA CFDC in 2004 as a program co-ordinator but quickly rose to the position of Executive Director. During the 12 year tenure of Mr. Desjardins the organization has executed its economic development mandate through delivering programs such as the Eastern Ontario Development Program “EODP”, the Empowering Youth Entrepreneur program “EYE” , the Ontario Self Employment Program “OSEB”, the Upper Canada Equity Investment program as well as providing business advisory and financial assistance through its investment portfolio.

“PELA CFDC will continue to deliver quality service to its communities, clients and partners” remarked Chair Person Angela Miller. “Our Staff and Board of Directors have confidence the organization will continue to find new and innovative ways of building the economies of our communities.”

“This change in management is timely as we are currently reviewing our strategic plan. We can take time to properly assess our management requirements as Debra S. Marshall, a 12 year PELA CFDC veteran board member will assume the role as Interim Executive Director effective October 17, 2016. Mrs. Marshall has been involved in the creation and execution of our programs throughout the past decade and fully understands the operation. Our organization will experience a relatively seamless transition with her assuming the role as Interim Executive Director.

“I believe the organization is in good hands because we have a great board in place and a very efficient staff.”
