The Ontario Self-Employment Benefit (OSEB) program is
designed to help individuals who are out of work to begin and operate their
own small businesses.
The program provides training, counselling,
financial assistance and mentoring to eligible participants, for a period of up
to forty two (42) weeks.
It is designed specifically for people
who:
- Currently receive Employment Insurance
Benefits;
or
- Have received Employment Insurance Benefits in the past three
years;
or
- Have received Maternity/Parental Benefits within the last
five years.
Program participants
must:
- Have a viable idea for a
business of their own;
- Be able to contribute a
part of the start up cost, either in cash or kind;
and
- Be able and willing to
work full time (often hard and/or long) on their own behalf.
This program is part of the Employment
Ontario initiative, under the jurisdiction of the Ontario Ministry of Training,
Colleges & Universities. It is also funded by the Government of
Canada.
PELA CFDC's OSEB Coordinator supports
all participants while they are in the program.
