"Amy and I would like to thank PELA for supporting our plans for the addition of the new store at the Merrill Inn and other key projects planned for this year. This is the second time that PELA has assisted our organization with funds in the eight plus years that we have owned and operated the Merrill Inn.

We look forward to generate further sales for our business, enhance our brand awareness and provide valuable off season hours of employment to our dedicated culinary staff.

Once again, thank you for assisting us by providing the funding necessary to make our plans a reality.”

"I wanted to write to thank you for everything that you personally, and PELA CFDC have done for me and for my business.

I started my business in 1994, as a small lesson stable and children’s camp. Over the years it has grown to include a residential camp which has attracted children from Australia, Qatar, Holland, Germany, England France, Switzerland, Venezuela, the U.S., and Korea.

The loan (won at the end of 2008) for the arena and stabling enabled me to obtain further financing. In addition, the publicity generated by winning the business plan contest rallied community support, and was a great promotion of my expansion.

These monies also provided the equivalent of full-time employment for five trades people for most of a year. The expanded facility also has a much increased demand for local labour, products and services (such as hay, feed, blacksmithing, maintenance and trades people).

Thank-you again for assisting me in making this project possible."

Sincerely,

CASpencer

"The Loyalist College Art & Design Foundations program had the privilege of

visiting PELA at their PEC head office in the Edward building last Tuesday

afternoon.

Being one of the students who plans to stay in the region post grad, I found

Gillian Chapman's seminar to be of vital importance.

I left the seminar feeling confident and informed. Gillian's delivery of

information was clear and concise, I was left with a much better

understanding of what types of businesses the organization supports and have

no inhibitions about seeking advise or guidance from them in the future.

We really appreciated Jillian's effort to structure her seminar around our

visit. Gillian included talks from PELA CDFC intern, local sculpture David

Boorne and also included a visit to Arts on Main where local artist Steven

Draper gave the students insight on how an artisits' collective is run.

In a nut shell, the seminar has allowed us 'the arts focused students', to

not only think in terms of ideals, but to consider our actual options.

Support for running a creative business radiates from PELA's Main Street

Picton headquarters. Meeting Gillian and hearing more about what PELA

stands for has been very enlightening experience.

Thank you for taking the time to expand on those resources and funding

options which are available to us.

Cheers,

Kelly”
