MP Kramp Announces Investments for Napanee Manufacturers

Napanee, Ontario, April 8 th, 2015 – Daryl Kramp, Member of Parliament for Prince Edward– Hastings, today announced Eastern Ontario Development Program (EODP) funding totaling $103,000 for several Napanee-based manufacturing businesses resulting in the creation of five new jobs and maintenance of 234 jobs and leveraging over $720,000 in additional investment from the recipients. EODP recipients include:

Vi-Lux Building Products Inc. Vi-Lux Building Products Inc. is a manufacturer of cellular PVC extrusion for the construction, door and window industry and also produces custom extrusions. Vi-Lux, which employees 45 people, received $25,000 in support to develop new products that meet safety standards in international markets. These products will increase export sales to the southern US, New England and Pacific Northwest.

Continental Conveyor (Ontario) Ltd. Continental Conveyor (Ontario) Ltd. is a manufacturer of bulk material handling equipment for a variety of industries including mining, steel processing, recycling, biofuel processing and power generation that employs 64 people. They received $28,394 in support for the purchase of a CNC angle roller which will automate set-ups and vastly reduce set-up cycle times and improve productivity of the manufacturing process.

GT Machining & Fabricating Ltd. GT Machining & Fabricating Ltd. is a world leader in the manufacture of container handling units for military trucks and employs 125 people in the Napanee community. EODP funding of $50,000 will support the purchase of equipment to modernize the production process reducing downtime and repairs and allow the development of costcompetitive products for new customers.

PELA CFDC is a CFDC in southern Ontario funded by the Community Futures Program through the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario). CFDCs deliver a wide variety of programs and services to support community economic development and small business growth. They employ local staff and are each governed by a volunteer board of directors, made up of local residents representing the community.

The Eastern Ontario Development Program is a $48-million economic development initiative focused on addressing economic challenges in eastern Ontario and taking advantage of innovative opportunities in the region. The program is managed by FedDev Ontario and delivered through eastern‎Ontario’s‎15 Community Futures Development Corporations (CFDCs) and the Eastern Ontario Community Futures Development Corporation Network Inc. (EOCFDC Network). Applications are solicited by each CFDC and EOCFDC Network and assessed on their potential to stimulate local and regional economic development and create jobs.
